Dancing with the Stars Season 34 is almost here! It’s finally time to get back in the ballroom, with this season’s fourteen professional and celebrity pairs. Season 34 features a diverse cast, with stars from all different walks of life. The week one dances and songs have officially been released, to the excitement of DWTS fans. While all of the routines will offer something unique, some have a better chance of scoring high than others.

Dancing with the Stars Season 34, Week 1 Predictions: What are each dancer’s odds of winning?

I don’t want to make early assumptions; however, there are several stars who seem to have an early advantage. One of them is The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt, who has a strong background in dance. By the same token, Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui might also have a leg up on her competitors. As a member of a group like Fifth Harmony, Lauren has lots of experience learning and executing choreography.

On the other hand, Hilaria Baldwin has extensive ballroom dance experience. This could give her a particularly unfair advantage. The majority of the Season 34 cast doesn’t have much of a dance background, which sets them behind these women. Once the season kicks off, it will be easier to get a sense of who’s in the running for the Mirrorball. Based on the song and dance releases for Week 1, however, here’s who could have an early shot at the lead.

Whitney has an extensive background in dance; however, not with ballroom specifically. Nonetheless, Whitney’s dance background will certainly help her with learning choreography. In addition to her dance past, Whitney is also paired with pro Mark Ballas. Mark is one of the most experienced pros on DWTS, who has won three times. He is known for impressive choreography, which will help him and Whitney out when it comes to scoring.

Tango is one of the more difficult dances on DWTS, which makes it a good option for week one. The judges will likely cut some slack for the more difficult style, although Whitney should be able to do a decent Tango based on her background. To make things even better, Whitney and Mark have a great song for week one. The pair will be dancing to “Golden” from the hit Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters. This song is a unique choice for Tango, although it could really work.

Lauren and Brandon Armstrong will also be performing a Tango on night one. Like Whitney, Lauren is one of the more experienced celebs when it comes to dance. She should be able to pick up a Tango easier than some of her competitors, which will help her to stand out. Brandon is also the perfect partner, as he placed third last season with Chandler Kinney. While they didn’t win, Brandon’s choreography for Chandler consistently helped them to top the leaderboard.

The song choice is another good fit for Tango, as “Yes, And?” has the perfect rhythm for the dance. This will help the choreography to really flow, which is helpful when it comes to scoring. With a dance background and an amazing night one song, Lauren has a good chance of topping the leaderboard this week!

Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach’s Cha cha to “Milkshake” by Kelis

The final dance that I think could really top the leaderboard this week will be Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach’s Cha cha. While Dylan doesn’t have any dance experience, he could easily score well if he puts in the practice. I could see him having a similar experience as last season’s winner Joey Graziadei. A Cha cha is one of the easier styles, so this will be a good beginner routine for Dylan.

Daniella is also one of the pros most commonly praised for her unique choreography. While Daniella is one of the newer pros, her stats typically make it far each season. With a partner like Daniella, Dylan could very well make it to the top of the pack this season. His night one dance could easily surprise fans with a higher score than expected as well.

Dancing with the Stars is available to stream on Disney +.
