JoJo Siwa has been reflecting on the hate she has received throughout her time in the spotlight. The singer and reality TV star said in an interview that she figured out where the criticism comes from. And it dates back to her time on Dance Moms.
JoJo Siwa says people watched her “grow up getting punched” on Dance Moms
She said: “People bully me. It’s fair play. People shit on every single thing I do and I told her yesterday. I was like, ‘Mom, I realized why people feel like they can punch me essentially mentally.’
“Because they watched me grow up getting punched and they see me now. From Dance Moms. Obviously, there was some slight stuff from Abby, slight stuff from the other girls, slight stuff from the other moms,” and I was always okay. Then I go on to do YouTube and music and they watched me get hate. People watched me get hate. They knew I was getting hated on, but that’s why I kept going through because I was, you know, anti-bullying and it was okay and I’m okay and you can push through this, and so they watched me grow up with it and now all of a sudden I’m here and it’s what they know how to do.”
The singer was on the show from 2015 to 2016. She was just 11 years old when she first hit our screens. She recently gave her verdict on the reboot of the show.
The Big Brother star addressed her haters in her song Raspy, released last month. The lyrics include:
