The Sussexes take the UK: watch this space. Following Prince Harry’s brief visit to his homecountry, he seems to be considering bringing the fam over. In a recent interview, he said that his successful trip has made it a possibility. We guess that afternoon tea with King Charles went well…
Prince Harry’s meeting with King Charles has brought his kids returning to the UK “closer”
Harry had previously said he couldn’t imagine taking his kids, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, to his homecountry because his state-funded security had been pulled. In May this year he told BBC News that he “see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”
The Duke of Sussex has had a change of heart, though. In an interview with the Guardian published at the weekend, he said it could definitely happen. Asked if he would like to take his family to the UK, he said: “Yes I would. This week has definitely brought that closer.”
Harry and Charles have reportedly been locked in a tiff about security arrangements for the Prince. After he stepped back from royal life, the UK government made the decision to stop Harry’s publicly funded protection. This has been a sore point ever since, with the Prince alleging that his dad could use his power to reverse the decision.
Harry met with Charles last Wednesday for the first time in around 19 months. It’s unclear if the pair discussed the security situation. The King’s cancer diagnosis could have something to do with the Harry’s change of heart. While he didn’t say much about his dad during the interview, he did note that for the next year, “the focus really has to be on my dad”.
