Amanda Seyfried is clarifying a viral comment she made about Charlie Kirk’s death online.
The actress got a lot of backlash for what she said following the political activists’ shooting at a rally in Utah. The father of two had his share of controversies before his death. In many people’s eyes, he towed the line and often crossed it with some of his rants and views against minorities, among other things. He previously called Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court appointment “a diversity hire,” and wanted Transgender Day of Visibility cancelled.
In light of Charlie’s death, Amanda’s words about him have been deemed by some as insensitive.

Charlie Kirk’s death has sparked a significant debate about his legacy, with many people divided on that end. Amanda commented online that his political agenda was “hateful,” something many people believe was inappropriate.
Amanda is setting the record straight on exactly what she meant via her Instagram Stories. “I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable,” she said. “No one should have to experience this level of violence,” Amanda went on to say.
The co-star of the upcoming movie The Housemaid is one of the many public figures who had something to say about Charlie and what he stood for. His death is still fresh in people’s memories as it only occured last Wednesday during one of his speaking engagements. The co-founder of Turning Point USA was discussing mass shootings when a sniper from a nearby building fatally shot him.
Several celebrities have spoken about the shooting including Jay Leno, Michael Keaton, and the panel on The View, as well as late-night talk show hosts.
