As if Wendy Williams doesn’t have enough on her plate, she must now sit for a deposition. Her guardian sued A&E last year over a documentary about Wendy. Despite her reported dementia diagnosis, the TV star has been ordered to testify in the case.
Wendy Williams has been ordered to sit for a deposition in her guardian’s lawsuit
Wendy has been ordered to participate in the lawsuit, according to TMZ. The judge reportedly said that her dementia diagnosis does not mean she’s unfit to testify. However, special considerations appear to have been made to make things easier on her. The deposition will take place remotely, and lawyers will only have up to three hours to question her.
The former talk show host’s guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, initiated a lawsuit against A&E, which owns Lifetime. It was related to a Lifetime doc about Wendy released in February last year. The documentary was titled “Where is Wendy Williams?”. The series detailed the star’s health struggles, addiction issues and her controversial guardianship.
Sabrina claimed that Wendy did not have the mental capacity to agree to participate in the documentary series. The star’s medical team said in February 2024 that she has been diagnosed with progressive aphasia and FTD. Later that year, Sabrina alleged Wendy was “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and legally incapacitated”. Wendy has since denied she is incapacitated.
A source recently told People: “the attorneys suing A&E said at a Sept. 5 hearing that the docuseries was so horrific that it could no longer be found on the air anywhere. Attorneys for A&E later admitted that they had taken the series down, claiming it was out of respect for the legal proceedings.”
Wendy recently revealed she is open to the idea of a tour to expose the “abusive” guardianship system.
