Alec Baldwin was among the celebrities who paid tribute to Robert Redford following his death on Tuesday. In an Instagram video, Alec revealed that the late acting legend had written to him following the accidental Rust shooting that killed the movie’s cinematographer.

After news of Robert Redford’s passing broke on Tuesday, many celebs took to social media to pay homage to the star. Alec Baldwin shared his own memories of “Bob”, and revealed the older actor had supported him in the wake of the fatal onset shooting that left
Halyna Hutchins dead.
He says in the clip: “When I went through all of what I went through and had to deal with all that in New Mexico, I got a letter when it was over, when it was dismissed and so forth, I got a letter from Bob Redford. Unsolicited.”
According to Alec, the Butch Cassidy star told him: “I’m so glad this turned out this way, I’m so sorry [for] what you had to go through.” Alec concluded: “I got the loveliest letter from Robert Redford.”
The 2021 accidental shooting happened on the set of the movie Rust. The 30 Rock actor fired a prop gun that was not supposed to have bullets in it. Alec faced criminal charges over the fatal shooting, but the case was eventually dropped. He recently refused to attend a deposition for the incident.
The Beetlejuice actor also made a list of movie greats in the caption of the post. Kiwi actor Sam Neill was seemingly pleased to have made it onto the lineup. He replied in the comments: “Well. What a list ! Many thanks Alec. Honour indeed.”
