Hollywood Stars Defend Jimmy Kimmel After Charlie Kirk Comments See Show Pulled From Air

Jimmy Kimmel has been taken off the air “indefinitely” after making comments about the shooting of Charlie Kirk. The talk show host said in Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that the influencer’s death was being used as political leverage. Following the decision to pull the late-night talk show, a number of celebs rushed to Jimmy’s defense via social media.

ABC have suspended Jimmy Kimmel after Charlie Kirk comments made on his show

During the opening monologue section of his show, Jimmy said: “The MAGA Gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

He also sarcastically commented on how hard the POTUS has taken the news of the conservative figure’s death, showing a viral clip of the President discussing his ballroom renovations after being asked how he was doing following the shooting of his friend.

Following the broadcast, ABC announced it will be dropping Jimmy Kimmel Live! A statement was released, stating that the network “strongly objects” to the comments. It’s not yet known whether or not it’ll be a permanent move.

Many celebrities defended the comedian on social media.

Ben Stiller wrote on X: “This isn’t right.”

In a video posted to Instagram, Wanda Sykes said: “He didn’t end the Ukraine war or solve Gaza within his first week. But he did end freedom of speech within his first year. Hey, for those of you who pray, now’s the time to do it. Love you, Jimmy.”

Josh Gad wrote: “I see we are at the passive participation of authoritarianism now. God help us all.”

Jamie Lee Curtis wrote in her Instagram stories: “I don’t think anybody should be canceled. I really don’t.” The actress received mixed responses to an interview in which she cried while discussing the death of Charlie Kirk earlier this week.
