That happened during Donald and Melania Trump’s formal welcome at Windsor Castle, when Queen Camilla and Princess Kate Middleton shared an interaction caught on camera. A subtle hand gesture from Camilla became the moment everyone noticed.
As the royals greeted the Trumps, everything looked polished and routine. Still, one quiet motion managed to draw all the attention.
Queen Camilla asked Kate Middleton to move during chat with Melania Trump
On September 17, Prince William and Kate were the first to greet the Trumps outside Victoria House before introducing them to King Charles and Queen Camilla. Once the greetings wrapped, Charles and Donald struck up a conversation. Camilla turned toward Melania, while Kate joined in with the former first lady.
That’s when Camilla gave a small sweep of her hand, seeming to signal Kate to move aside. Kate quickly responded, said a brief goodbye to Melania, and stepped back toward William’s side.
The gesture cleared the space as the group lined up for the carriage procession. It also gave Camilla and Melania a chance to talk directly.
Camilla and Melania later shared a ride in the Scottish State Coach, while Charles and Donald traveled in the Irish State Coach. William and Kate rode in the Semi-State Landau with U.S. ambassador Warren Stephens and his wife.
The welcome ceremony was only the beginning of the day’s events. Later, the royals prepared for the grand state banquet at Windsor Castle. Other uncomfortable moments ensued. Reportedly, the president wanted Kate included in the festivities to add glamor.
Whether it was simple protocol or something more, Camilla’s sweep had just enough edge to keep fans whispering about royal shade.
