Surprisingly, King Charles knows Queen Camilla’s favorite type of shoe. Earlier this year, the founder of British shoe brand Sole Bliss met the king. She found herself pleasantly amused by how much he knew about the Queen’s shoes.
“The King was relaxed and personable,” Lisa Kay remembers. “He genuinely seemed interested in our business and knew so much about the Queen’s preferences. It felt like chatting with any husband who pays attention to what his wife likes to wear.”

Lisa found herself especially charmed when the monarch described his wife’s favorite style of heel. “She likes a heel that’s not too narrow,” he confided.
When Lisa responded, “Yes, a block heel,” the King agreed enthusiastically, “Yes, a block heel!”
The footwear professional, who has been supplying Camilla’s shoes since 2018, had to force herself to stop talking business with the king. The brand is soon expanding their menswear line. “I was absolutely tempted to offer the King a pair of our men’s shoes right there and then!” she told People. “But I thought that might be pushing royal protocol a bit too far.”
Sole Bliss already carries men’s casual shoes but are expanding the line to include more formal footwear. Lisa founded the company in 2017, after noticing a gap in the market for high-end but supportive shoes.
The meeting with the king was a career highlight for the businesswoman. The footwear entrepreneur was at Windsor Castle receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise. Lisa was one of 197 recipients of the award, considered one of the highest honors for a British business.
“I am beyond honored to have been chosen to receive it,” she said. “It really feels like this is a turning point for us. I’m so proud of my team and the hard work that enabled us to achieve this milestone.”
“There are lots of brands that design shoes fit for a Queen,” Lisa continued. “But no one prioritizes comfort [and] aesthetics on the same level we do. Our shoes stand the test of time, as the Queen has proven. I’m just glad that we can be of service to the Queen and contribute towards her comfort.”
