Margot Robbie might not be a shoplifter, but she wasn’t afraid to show off her skills using her dress’s neckline on Seth Meyers’ talk show. During her recent appearance on the “Late Night” show, the actor turned up in a unique Magda Butrym number from its Fall 2025 collection. Besides the minidress in itself, it was the asymmetrical, structured neckline that stood out, and Robbie had the apt use for it in mind.
Margot Robbie explains why her dress is perfect for shoplifting
Margot Robbie’s dress on the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” show sparked the discussion during her appearance, and it’s more intriguing than you think. She pulled up at the talk show alongside Colin Farrell to promote their upcoming film “A Big, Bold, Beautiful Journey,” but it was her outfit from Magda Butrym that stole the spotlight.
Welcoming the co-stars to his show, Meyers quickly highlighted Robbie’s minidress. “And I mean, just shoutout to the dress,” he said, addressing the just-off-the-runway look, claiming that he wanted to get that bit “out of the way.” However, the “Barbie” star had the most appropriate response to the host’s nod of approval, joking that it was her “shoplifting dress.”
Margot Robbie then explained to Meyers and Farrell why the dress is ideal for shoplifting purposes, and her reasoning clicked with the situation. She gestured how she would pick things up and put them in the elongated, spacious-looking, and dramatically structured asymmetrical neckline. Her fellow guest and co-star added to the joke, giving her another shoutout for sending him a picture beforehand as he was going to wear “something similar.”
Robbie quipped that it “would have been so embarrassing” if they showed up wearing the same look. She said, “You wore the shell dress, I wore the shell dress.” At this point, the host quickly corrected her, pointing out that Farrell’s look would have been a “shell sweater,” but still quite similar from the waist up.
