How Prince Andrew ‘Defied’ Late Dad Prince Philip Over ‘Blacklisted’ Sarah Ferguson

Prince Andrew has given the British monarchy plenty of headaches over the years. And it seems he wasn’t afraid to test his parents. A new book has revealed that he once snuck Sarah Ferguson into Balmoral Castle – despite Prince Philip forbidding it.

A new biography written by former royal butler Paul Burrell claims that Andrew had no issue defying Prince Philip when it came to Sarah Ferguson.

The event apparently took place in 1992, a year marked by Princess Anne’s divorce, a disastrous fire at Windsor Castle, and the very public breakdown of the marriages of both Andrew and Charles. Queen Elizabeth II later described the year as her “annus horribilis”.

Sarah Ferguson sparked one of the year’s biggest scandals when photographers caught her vacationing with John Bryan. The images showed the Texan millionaire kissing her toes. Though recently separated from Andrew, the pictures stirred up a ruckus at the palace. According to an insider “Philip was enraged and forbade Sarah from entering any royal residences,” reports Radar Online.

Despite his dad’s ban, Andrew wrote to the Queen to ask if Sarah could visit Balmoral for a weekend when Philip was away. He wrote: “Wouldn’t it be nice, Mummy, if Sarah and the girls could come and spend a weekend at Balmoral? You would love to see your grandchildren.”

The Queen agreed, but Philip heard about the visit and called to say he was going to Balmoral. An insider revealed: “Andrew was informed that Sarah could not stay in the same house as Philip. She quietly packed up and departed before Philip came back.”

Many believed the Queen favored her younger son. The book notes that since her death in 2022, Andrew has struggled to find peace. An insider notes: “The Queen consistently shielded her son from the consequences of his missteps. Now, without her, he appears adrift.”

Despite their divorce in 1996, Andrew and Sarah have remained close. The pair still live together, and move in the same circles – including ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
