Alexander Skarsgård and Taylor Swift Theories Resurface Decade After Wildest Dreams Release

Ten years may have passed, but Taylor Swift fans are still trying to solve the mystery of who Wildest Dreams was written about. Many concluded that the answer is Alexander Skarsgård – and there are definitely some intriguing clues. The actor didn’t exactly deny it when asked in an interview earlier this year.

Taylor Swift fans wonder if Alexander Skarsgård was the subject of Taylor’s song, Wildest Dreams

Did Taylor pen Wildest Dreams about Alexander? The answer is a resounding yes according to most Swifties. The stars met on the set of The Giver in 2013. Taylor released 1989, which featured the song, a year later.

The theory may seem a bit out there given that the pair were never confirmed to have dated, but fans have actually made some pretty convincing arguments.

First, there’s the lyrics. Taylor sings in the chorus: “He’s so tall and handsome as hell”. We can probably all agree that that’s a pretty accurate description of the 6’4″ actor. “He’s so bad, but he does it so well” – could it be a reference to Alexander’s role as a ruthless vampire in True Blood?

Not convinced? Well, there’s also the video for the song. In it, Taylor falls in love with a co-star on a movie set in Africa.

So, it seems a pretty coincidence that The Giver was also shot in Africa. Not only that, in the Wildest Dreams video, the singer wears a brunette wig – similar to the color she sported in the movie.

The song’s lyrics point to a secret fling: “I said, ‘No one has to know what we do’ / His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room.” Could the pair have had a short-lived romance during filming?

Taylor has never commented on her inspiration for the song. Alexander did comment on it earlier this year, though. During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert, he confessed that he didn’t want to confirm whether he was the subject of the song for fear of feeling the wrath of Swifties.

After Dax joked that Taylor sang the song at a concert he attended with his daughter, Alexander joked “I wasn’t in the crowd in Lisbon … I wasn’t there, so it’s clearly about you.”

Taylor releases her new album on October 3. We’re sure there will be plenty of cryptic clues for fans to decode.
