As Below Deck Mediterranean’s chief stew Aesha Scott can tell you, there are many perks to the job. Besides getting to visit some amazing places, charter guests normally tip between $20,000 and $30,000 for a two-night stay. This money is divided among the crew and can really add up over a charter season.
In addition, sometimes the crew gets to mingle with famous guests, such as movie stars or musical artists like Rihanna. Some guests have even been known to leave behind some thoughtful (and expensive) gifts for the crew.
Aesha Scott wants to work for Rihanna on a luxury yacht
Viewers first saw Aesha on Below Deck Med Season 4 when she was introduced as a second stew. While some viewers find her fart humor a little juvenile, she always makes me laugh. And she really is a hard worker.
“When I first got on the boat and the cameras were rolling, there was just this wave of energy that came over me … I was like, Oh, my God,” Aesha told Us Weekly. “This was that moment I was waiting for all my life. Very soon after that, I just completely forgot the cameras were there.”
As for meeting movie stars, Aesha once worked on a boat where Leonardo DiCaprio was a guest. “He was so polite and so lovely,” she recalled. “This was years ago. He was having business meetings about his climate change book, and you can’t help but hear what they’re talking about. I remember thinking he was probably the most articulate man I have ever heard speak in my life. Very intelligent.”
But in Aesha’s book, the holy grail of charter guests would be Rihanna. “I’ve had friends that have had her on, and they said she is just the nicest, kindest, [most] down-to-earth charter guest,” the New Zealand native said. “And every time she’d get off [the charter], she’d leave them designer handbags.”
Now that’s a nice tip.
