It’s been two months since the Coldplay kiss cam scandal. While the couple caught cozying up at the concert have been the source of ridicule and even death threats, a source close to the pair now claims everyone has got it wrong. In a recent interview, the insider said Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and employee Kristin Cabot weren’t romantically involved.
A source claims the pair caught at a Coldplay concert and accused of having an “affair” were simply being friends
Let’s be honest, most of us were gripped by the fallout from the Coldplay affair scandal. But according to a new source, it was a classic case of “it’s not what it looks like”.
The insider said the viral interaction isn’t exactly what it seems. They told People: “Kristin and Andy had an excellent working relationship, a great friendship. There was no affair. It was inappropriate to be hugging your boss at a concert, and she accepts full responsibility for it. But the scandal, the downfall, the loss of the job — all of that is unfair.”
The source told the publication that the pair were part of a big group of friends who attended the concert, and Kristin’s husband was also in the crowd “on a date.”
The source also echoed the statement made by Kristin’s husband earlier this month, which clarified that the pair had been amicably separated for weeks before the concert. “They are amicably separated and moving forward towards divorce, focused on their families,” the source said.
Both Andy and Kristin left their jobs at Astronomer in the wake of the scandal. The source says Kristin received a barrage of negative attention after the incident. They explained: “In the first three days after the news broke, she had about 900 death threats on her phone.”
