Brown suggested that Charles “is tiring of his elder son’s self-righteous intractability in the family feud.” She added that he “wants to re-embrace Harry.” However, the reconciliation is possible only if Harry did not spark controversies about the royal family, citing the Duke’s history of speaking out against the institution.
Harry’s 54-minute meeting with his father at Clarence House marked their first face-to-face encounter in over a year. While royal sources described the interaction as a modest step forward, they pushed back against the idea that the gathering meant any formal reconciliation. One insider told the Daily Mail, “Whoever is behind them seems to have mistaken a brief tea and a slice of cake for the Treaty of Versailles.”
Additionally, observers noted that Harry’s appearances in the UK, including charity events and a surprise trip to Ukraine, were well received. This, in turn, fueled comparisons with William and deepened the elder brother’s frustrations. Brown claimed that the success of Harry’s public work likely irritated his older brother, who still views him as “treacherous” for past revelations in television interviews and his memoir.
