Liam Hemsworth Had to ‘Decompress’ After Miley Cyrus Divorce Before Proposing to Fiancée, Source Claims

Liam Hemsworth has finally moved on and gotten engaged to Gabriella Brooks. However, it was not an easy step for the actor. A source has claimed that Hemsworth had to “decompress” after his divorce from Miley Cyrus. But now, after his engagement to Brooks, the couple can’t wait to start a new chapter of their life together.

Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks surprised their fans in mid-September by posting a black-and-white engagement photo on their respective Instagram accounts. The picture showed the Australian model wrapping her hand around Hemsworth’s neck, with a diamond ring on her finger, subtly hinting they are finally engaged after six years of dating. The happy couple shared the news with a single white love heart in the caption.

However, it seems for “The Hunger Games” actor, the decision to slip the ring was not an easy one. A source told Star that although “Liam and Gabriella hit it off from the start,” the 35-year-old star “needed time to decompress after his divorce” from his former wife, Miley Cyrus. As per the insider, “It was always drama with Miley.”

But when his girlfriend insisted that she wanted to get married, Hemsworth finally proposed last month. After spending time with friends in Ibiza, the couple confirmed their engagement news weeks later. And now, “They can’t wait to start a family of their own,” said the source.

Hemworth was previously married to the “Flowers” singer from December 2018 to August 2019. They have been in an on-again, off-again relationship for a decade. Their divorce was finalized in early 2020.

A few months after the separation, the actor was spotted with the 29-year-old model in December 2019. The couple has always kept their relationship private, away from the prying eyes. However, last year, a source told Us Weekly that the duo “have no plans on getting married anytime soon — and perhaps, not at all.” As per the insider, since “Liam didn’t have a good experience the first time around,” he does not think of marriage “in a positive light.”
