James Stephen “Jimmy” Donaldson, better known by his YouTube moniker MrBeast, is perhaps the biggest YouTuber of all time, and he is not stopping at just YouTube. The 27-year-old, along with key members of his company, is moving forward quickly. They are venturing into territories where MrBeast may soon turn his industry into something as big as Disney’s.
MrBeast wants to make his Beast Industries like Disney
Bloomberg News recently delved into MrBeast’s empire and uncovered several things, including a huge plan to expand. MrBeast already makes both significant profits and losses. Fans know him for his philanthropic efforts, and they also recognize the large-scale games he conducts for videos that promise very high rewards.
MrBeast employs about 450 people, more than 300 of whom make videos. He pays for elaborate setups and creates such expensive videos that most do not recover the cost of production, despite attracting massive viewership.
With losses going on right now, MrBeast lost about $110 million. To address this, he brought in Jeff Housenbold, a chief executive officer, to help professionalize his operation and reduce costs. Housenbold has ambitious plans for the company and compares MrBeast to Disney. This is because every entertainment outlet dreams of being the biggest and the best.
Speaking of turning MrBeast’s fame into something much larger, Housenbold told Bloomberg News, “There’s such a bigger opportunity here than just being a YouTuber.” He added, “Jimmy will always be the cornerstone, but Jimmy doesn’t scale. He already filmed 26, 27, 28 days a month.” As reported by Bloomberg, “Housenbold envisions building out a MrBeast cinematic universe, and he’s put together a writers’ room that’s sketched out a world bible—the backstory.”
He did not share many details, but the plan could involve several characters and new media franchises. The scope of MrBeast’s empire seems enormous. Fans will soon find out which direction it is headed.
