In his book, former royal butler, 47-year-old Grant Harrold, reportedly reflected on how different Prince Harry and Prince William were in terms of personalities from a very young age. Per RadarOnline, the former royal butler penned, “One of the reasons I had wanted to work for Prince Charles was to be a help for his sons, William and Harry.” He continued, “who were twenty-one and nineteen at the time, and it wasn’t long before I met the young princess.” By the “young princess”, Harrold referred to the Prince of Wales’ then-girlfriend and now-wife, Kate Middleton.

In the meantime, as reported by the news outlet, the former royal butler further wrote about the “first impressions” he got from both Prince William and Prince Harry in his book. Grant Harrold recalled from his memory of a senior butler named Fred telling him that the Prince of Wales, who was studying at the University of St Andrews at that time, had come home. He wrote, “The next thing I noticed was his voice, so deep and authoritative.” He continued, “We shook hands and I said, ‘Hi, I’m Grant.’ ‘I’m William, pleased to meet you,’ he said.” Harrold recalled asking Prince William how he would like to be addressed by him. The eldest son of King Charles said, “”William. My name’s William.”” The encounter was “very friendly, polite and straight to the point,” added the former royal butler.

As for his first encounter with Prince Harry, Harrold explained that it was different from his encounter with Prince William. The former royal butler recalled, “I was in the kitchen one day, having a conversation with the chef.” He continued, “When someone appeared at the door and, without warning, threw a water balloon at me.” He continued, “Prince Harry has just arrived home, and I’m getting a water balloon thrown at me.” However, when the Duke of Sussex came face-to-face with the butler at that time, he apologized. “I’m just being a bit silly,” said Prince Harry, added Harrold. Prince Harry also reportedly offered the former royal butler to get lunch with him.
