Bad Bunny Allegedly Targeted Online with ‘Credible Death Threat’

Bad Bunny reportedly faced a “credible” death threat during his concerts in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A well-connected reporter in the country said that the suspect was armed. The shows went ahead, but a large security presence was seen at the shows.

Bad Bunny was allegedly the target of a death threat recently. Puerto Rican journalist Jay Fonseca broke the news on his podcast last week. He claimed that, following a threat made online, a suspect was identified and found to be armed. It’s not clear when the threat was made or if the suspect was arrested.

Despite the threat, Bad Bunny went ahead with the final shows of his residency in San Juan. Former Telemundo reporter Jay said members of the FBI and and Puerto Rico’s Department of Public Safety were present at the final show on September 20. Apparently, members of the Secret Service were also present due to Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor being in the crowd. The shows took place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, which accommodates roughly 20,000 fans.

The Latin trap artist previously said he wouldn’t be performing in the US. He was worried that people going to his shows might get targeted by ICE because of the Trump Administration’s immigration policies.

Speaking to i-D magazine, he said: “There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate – I’ve performed there many times. All of them have been magnificent. But there was the issue of – like, fucking Ice could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

Bad Bunny isn’t the only one to have faced a death threat recently – Morrissey just canceled several shows following a menacing warning.
