Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Attorneys Will Argue for Rapper’s Acquittal

The trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs took the world by storm. The music mogul’s entire reputation was ruined after accusations about sex trafficking, assault, and racketeering came to the surface. Further, the rapper’s ex-girlfriend, performer Cassie, was a star witness in the case. She accused her former partner of forcing her to take part in “freak-offs,” which were forms of sexual assault against her.

The world was shocked when Diddy was convicted of lesser charges after pleading guilty. He was also found guilty of two counts relating to transportation for prostitution. This sentencing was brought on by Cassie’s testimony, as well as the allegations made against him by an anonymous woman.

Consequently, he was not found guilty of racketeering, a charge usually associated with organized crime. It’s not an easy charge to bring forward. Now, he is preparing to go back to court and his lawyers are hopeful he will be acquitted of all charges.

Diddy’s lawyers think they will be able to overturn his conviction as he returns to court. On Thursday, his legal team sought to have the prostitution charges against him vacated. Judge Arun Subramanian, who is ruling over the trial, adjourned the hearing without making a decision.

He has been in jail since he was originally arrested a year ago. Following his prostitution convictions in July, he has shared that his experience while incarcerated has been difficult. His lawyers believe that the courts misused the Mann Act, the federal law that aims to prevent sex trafficking. They believe that under those conditions, they can get his charges overturned.

Diddy is currently facing 10 year sentences per each conviction, totaling in 20 years behind bars. His lawyers are arguing that the misuse of the Mann Act has ruined his reputation and kept him away from his children. Diddy’s sentencing will unfold on October 3.
