King Charles Has Given His Final Word on Prince Harry’s Royal Return Plans, Says Source

King Charles seems to have closed the royal doors for Prince Harry. According to a source, the monarch made it clear to his second son that he could not be “half-in, half-out” of his duties.

The father of two reportedly gave his final word on the Duke of Sussex’s return when they met at Clarence House during Harry’s visit to the United Kingdom. Their reunion sparked speculations about the estranged son and his wife, Meghan Markle’s, royal return, but the reality appeared to be the opposite.

Prince Harry’s royal return plans crushed by King Charles, says source

King Charles and Prince Harry’s reunion during the latter’s U.K. trip didn’t seem to be fruitful. A source told Rob Shuter that the 41-year-old expected a reconciliation with his family. He might have also considered returning to his royal duties while continuing his commercial ventures in America. However, his father seems to have crushed his plans.

Harry met his father at Clarence House during his visit to his home country at the beginning of this month. Reportedly, the king made his stance clear on his second son’s royal return. He showed “no interest” in the duke’s plan of a “half-in, half-out” arrangement. According to the 76-year-old, the Sandringham Agreement was final.

“Harry made his choice in 2020. There’s no going back,” the insider mentioned. In January 2020, an agreement was signed in Sandringham that denied Harry and Meghan Markle the right to perform their royal duties while pursuing their commercial business. Allegedly, the “Spare” author called it unfair, but the monarch saw it as a threat to the crown.

Hence, King Charles would seemingly follow the deal that was made five years ago. However, he reportedly has no problem with his son visiting his family members in the U.K. “Harry can visit as family, but he won’t work as a royal. That door is closed,” the source added.

According to the outlet, Harry had implied that his recent meeting with his father was “formal.” In response, the insider shared the king’s stance, claiming that the duke cannot “monetize the crown while standing half inside it.” “It’s all in or all out — and Harry is out,” they concluded.
