Taylor Swift Fans Upset Over New Super Bowl Announcement

Bad Bunny was recently announced as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer, and the news has upset Taylor Swift fans. Previously, reports suggested that the “Cruel Summer” singer was in talks to be the halftime performer. However, talks seemingly fell through after the football league couldn’t meet Swift’s demands. For a while, fans had been wondering whether Swift would ever perform at the NFL. This curiosity was fueled by the fact that she was in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce.

Bad Bunny was recently confirmed as the performer of Super Bowl LX’s halftime show. However, Taylor Swift fans weren’t thrilled to hear this. Subsequently, they took to social media to express their frustration.

On X (formerly Twitter), one fan called Bad Bunny a “downgrade” compared to Swift when discussing the NFL’s choice to go with him. They also couldn’t fathom why the football league couldn’t get someone who wasn’t a rapper, saying, “It’s not entertaining to watch rappers.”

Another responded to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter’s tweet confirming the Puerto Rican rapper’s presence. “We asked for T swift and you gave us bad bunny,” they wrote.

One user couldn’t understand why the NFL picked Bad Bunny over “classier options” like Swift for the halftime show, claiming no one has heard anything about him. They added that “TERRIBLE ratings” should be expected.

However, some users expressed excitement at the Happy Gilmore 2 actor performing. “BADDIEEEEE LET’S GO,” a user commented. “The Halftime Show is the only time football turns me on. This one will be one…for the books. god damnnnn.”

“If Bad Bunny keeps it music, we’re in for a good time,” one user wrote. “If Bad Bunny takes it somewhere else, we’re still in for a good time,” they added.

Taylor Swift was originally in negotiations to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. Unfortunately, they fell through when the NFL allegedly rejected her demands, as mentioned by insider Rob Shuter on his Substack, #ShuterScoop. He noted that the league, sponsored by Apple Music, had been trying to hire the Bad Blood artist for 2026.

A music executive told #ShuterScoop that Swift knows her “worth.” They stressed she wasn’t handing it over to the Super Bowl — known for giving performers “exposure” instead of money — “for free.” “She wanted a deal that reflected her value,” the source added.
