Nina Dobrev may be embracing life following her breakup, but that doesn’t include dating Zac Efron. The actress recently responded to the rumors of a romance between the pair via a papparazzo. And based on her reaction, it seems like they really are just pals.

Rumors that Nina and Zac were dating spread last month after they were pictured vacationing together as part of a larger group. While a cruise on the Italian coast seems like the stuff of romance novels, it turns out it was just a friendly vibe.
Nina shut down the rumors via a TMZ photographer at LAX yesterday. The pap asked how she is, to which the actress replied: “good, just late for my flight.”
Not catching the hint, he says it “must be tough living everything out in public like that,” referring to her recent breakup.
Nina agrees, but adds she’s “excited for the future, and the only thing that’s guaranteed is change.” We wish we could be that insightful on a panicked dash through the airport.
Before they part, the pap asks if there’s anything to the rumors of a romance between her and Zac. The actress laughs and shakes her head, before confirming the pair are just friends.
Nina and Zac had been snapped on vacation with Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh Sperry, and Chace Crawford and his girlfriend Kelsey Merritt. The group enjoyed a cruise around Sardinia after Nina jetted off to France for a friend’s wedding.
Nina split from Shaun White in September after five years together. The pro snowboarder proposed in October 2024. The pair are said to be in touch – maybe there’s a chance of reconciliation?
