On Tuesday, Joshua, the winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 4, passed away. When we first reported on this heartbreaking incident, the cause of his death was uncertain. At that point, the only thing we knew was that his loved ones had confirmed his passing. Also, they had requested “privacy and prayers” for the foreseeable future.

Now, TMZ is sharing how Joshua lost his life. According to an unnamed family member who reached out to this outlet, Joshua had been struck and killed by a train. He later died in a hospital near his home in Texas.

When TMZ reached out to the Fort Worth Police Department, they revealed that on Tuesday, they received a call about a train and a person. Now we know, this was Josh. This nightmare remains an ongoing investigation in his city.

Recalling their last conversation, this family member also gave TMZ a glimpse into their final conversation with Joshua. As they shared, “One of the last things he said was to keep God first at all times. You have to be real with yourself before you can be real with anybody else.”

Providing a few additional details to this story, The U.S. Sun noted that Joshua was next to the tracks in the early hours of September 30. According to the preliminary reports, however, the person listed was a “homeless Black male.”

Joshua Allen was an actor as well as a dancer

In 2008, fans watched as Joshua rose to fame both during and after his win on Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance. He had stiff competition this season, including the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who came in second place. Ahead of his audition, Joshua looked into the camera and stressed, “I’m just gonna do what I do best. I’m just gonna try to like incorporate everything I can, and I’m gonna dance as hard as I can, ’cause my motto is, ‘If you don’t come big, don’t come at all.'”

Following his audition, the judges showered Joshua with praise, noting that he had “great elevation.” Sending him on in the competition, another judge quipped, “Boy, you’ve got wings. You’re through.”

After Joshua won SYTYCD, his star skyrocketed all the more, and many new gigs started falling into his lap. In 2010, Joshua appeared as a dancer in Step Up 3D. The following year, he starred in the remake of Footloose and an episode of American Horror Story. From dancing roles to acting spots on various television series and films, Joshua stayed hard at work, building his resume in this industry.

Life took a turn for Joshua in 2016. That January, Deadline reported on Joshua, revealing he had received a conviction for “willfully injuring a girlfriend.” This charge stemmed from an event that happened the year before, where he allegedly attempted to strangle his then-ex-girlfriend.

Only a handful of months later, Joshua reportedly attacked this woman again. But when she tried to flee the scene, Joshua followed her into a nearby coffee shop. Once he went inside, he got into two additional scuffles. The first one involved a man who was trying to stop him from getting any closer to this woman. As for the second incident, the outlet reports that Joshua threw a glass vase at another woman who also tried to intervene.

Eventually, Joshua was “subdued by other good Samaritans.” In 2017, a judge sentenced Joshua to a year in county jail after he pleaded no contest to these domestic violence charges. Joshua served his time, and once freed, he added one final notch to his IMDb resume. In 2020, he starred in a project called Crunchers: Mr. Salt’s Bestest Warm-Up Commercial.

Joshua also returned to the dance community following his release. On Instagram, there are many reels his fans can now watch, showing classes that Joshua taught.

Rest in peace, Joshua.
