Taylor Swift’s new album is dropping tomorrow, and there’s been no shortage of buzz around it. The singer revealed some lyrics from the upcoming songs at a Spotify event on Wednesday. And there’s already a nod to her current romance.
Taylor Swift is chaneling her inner ice skater on new album The Life of a Showgirl
Taylor’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, drops on October 3. As usual, the singer and her team have come up with an impressive promotional campaign. From glittery cardigans to a Target ad, they’ve gone all out with the stunts and gimmicks.
On Tuesday 30 September, a Spotify pop-up was held in New York City. The event featured decadent decor and video messages from the singer. Fans were also treated to a few sneak peaks from the album – including several lyrics.
One line scribbled on a mirror read: “Oftentimes it doesn’t feel so glamorous to be me,” reports Billboard.
Another was featured on a banner above a stage. It said: “Everyone’s unbothered ‘til they’re not.”
The lyrics were not only included in the pop-up, but plastered on billboards in various cities around the world, including NYC, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and São Paulo.
On Wednesday, a new lyric appeared at the pop-up and in London. It read: “You wanna take a skate on the ice inside my veins?” The line is likely to be a reference to fiancé Travis Kelce’s previous stint playing ice hockey.
The pop-up event is only the beginning of the album’s promotional push. The Release Party of a Showgirl movie hits theaters on Friday, and Taylor is also set to make several rare appearances on chat shows. So far, she has interviews lined up for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Graham Norton Show.
