George Clooney and Amal Clooney held their annual Albie awards in London on Friday. Meanwhile, Donatella Versace was in attendance at the event, and it clearly made a big impression on her. Indeed, the fashion legend had a lot to say about the event and her “great friends” George and Amal.
Donatella Versace is impressed by George and Amal Clooney’s “fight … for justice”

George and Amal, married for 11 years now, played hosts at their fourth Albie awards at the Natural History Museum. The Clooney Foundation for Justice hosts the event to honor courageous defenders of justice around the world.
Donatella Versace was at the event, which she described as “one of the great highlights” of her year. She told People: “I am always inspired by people who use that platform for true good. My great friends Amal and George Clooney are one of the finest examples of that. They fight, they fight and they fight some more for justice in our world and the protection of the truth speakers.” She said she felt honored that Versace supports a foundation carrying out such important work.
Naturally, the fashion icon couldn’t resist passing comment on the hosts’ outfit choices. She said of the human rights lawyer’s gown: “I loved Amal’s beautiful chocolate brown dress – it is such a classic Versace silhouette.” However, she was sure to add: “but really the clothes are secondary to the cause.”
Donatella also let slip that Meryl Streep had made a spontaneous donation of £1 million ($1.3 million) at the event. “That is what George and Amal inspire us to do. To be our best selves in the defence of the bravest people in the world,” she said of the generous gesture.
