Last Friday, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Sean “Diddy” Combs learned his fate. As many expected, Judge Arun Subramanian did not go easy on Diddy, though some might not agree. Here’s what we know about his sentencing, including his eventual release date from prison.
How long was Diddy sentenced for?

Judge Subramanian sentenced Diddy on two counts of transportation to engage in acts of prostitution. The prosecution in this case asked for an 11-year sentence. Meanwhile, the defense team sought 14 months, which would equal the time Diddy has already served. However, Diddy did not fare this lucky, which his alleged victims likely appreciated.
Before he learned his fate, Diddy addressed the judge. He begged him mercy while apologizing for his “sick” actions. After, the judge sentenced Diddy to 50 months in prison. He also fined Diddy $500,000 while tacking on five additional years of supervised release.
According to NBC News, the attorneys representing Diddy have a strong legal standing to appeal this sentence, which they labeled as “unconstitutional.” As for Diddy, he showed very little emotion in the courthouse regarding this verdict. But before he walked out with the marshals, he said to his children and his mother, “I love you, I’m sorry. I’ll be okay.”
When will Sean “Diddy” Combs be released from prison?

A 50-month sentence equates to roughly four years in prison. However, Diddy has already served 14 months of this sentence, courtesy of his arrest date in September 2024. We did the math. While accounting for a possible 15% reduction for good behavior, Diddy’s release could come as early as late 2028.
Nevertheless, Diddy will still be on the hook for another five years of supervision after his release. As his judge stressed, “These crimes were serious ones, and your violence, coercion, and abuse have had devastating consequences for the women involved, women who loved and depend on you.”
