King Charles recently had a discreet meeting with his former confidante, Michael Fawcett. It was the first time the pair had met in four years, following the aide’s cash for honors scandal that led him to resign in 2021. Sources say the pair reunited at Windsor Castle in a carefully planned rendezvous.
King Charles has “never stopped feeling the loss” of the disgraced ex-aide, Michael Fawcett

It turns out Prince Harry isn’t the only one to enjoy a low-profile reunion with the King. Michael Fawcett, who was once considered Charle’s closest confidante, was allegedly snuck into the royal residence a few months ago, sources tell People.
It was likely to have been a pretty poignant meeting, as Michael was the King’s right-hand man for many years. In fact, he is widely cited to have said: “I can manage without just about anyone, except for Michael.”
A source told the Mail on Sunday: “His Majesty has never stopped feeling the loss of Michael being forced to resign. He often confides that this is the one person he can scarcely do without.”
The royal staffer was working as chief executive of The Prince’s Foundation when he was found to have offered to help a Saudi billionaire get British citizenship and even a knighthood. Following the scandal, he was allegedly forced to step down from his role with the charity.
Michael had worked for the British monarchy for 40 years before his resignation. He began his career as a footman for Queen Elizabeth, before becoming Charles’ valet. He eventually rose up the ranks to serve as the head of The Prince’s Foundation (now named The King’s Foundation).
A palace source told People the meeting between Charles and Michael was a “farewell audience.” The insider said: “While we wouldn’t comment on individual private meetings, His Majesty often holds farewell audiences for departing senior staff. Some of these can be subject to delay, due to diary pressures, circumstance or ill health.”
