On Jimmy Fallon’s show, Taylor Swift clarified why Ed Sheeran had to find out about her engagement to Travis Kelce through Instagram. The talk show host set up the bit by reading headlines and asking the pop sensation to reveal which one was the truth.
After some back and forth, he guessed that Sheeran had heard about the engagement via social media. “That’s so true,” Swift said after pressing the buzzer. When Fallon dramatically fell over in mock shock, she followed with, “I have a perfect explanation.”
She explained, “He doesn’t have a phone.” Swift walked through the mix-up, saying, “This is, like, one thing I love about him. It’s very eccentric. Love it.”
She elaborated, “But when I’m going through being like, hey, who should we call? Who should we FaceTime?” The 35-year-old added, “I’m going through my texts and being like, who have I texted within the last, like, month of my life? And he just wasn’t there.”
The pop singer continued, “You have to email him,” adding, “He has to find an iPad. They have to give it to him like he’s a child.” However, she clarified that Sheeran was “one of my absolute favorite people on the planet.” She recalled the moment she realized she had forgotten to inform him: “And then when the news came out, I was like, ‘Oh my God, we forgot to call Ed!’”
