Sean “Diddy” Combs hasn’t wasted any time following this sentencing. The rapper has apparently gone straight to the President to to beg for release. Speaking to reporters, Donald Trump revealed that the disgraced musician has already asked for a presidential pardon.
Diddy, or “Puff Daddy,” has asked Donald Trump for a pardon
Trump was speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday when he let slip Diddy’s request. A journalist asked him about Ghislaine Maxwell and her appeal to have her conviction overturned.
Trump replied saying he plans to speak to the DOJ about it, saying “I wouldn’t consider it or not consider it.”
POTUS continued: “I have a lot of people that ask me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon.”
He didn’t reveal whether or not he was considering it.
Sources have since told TMZ that the Diddy’s team asked for the pardon immediately after he was sentenced. The rapper was given 50 months in prison on Friday. The sources also claim that the team reached out to a White House staffer who has direct access to the President.
It’s not the first time Diddy has made demands during the trial. He previously begged for mercy and asked for immediate release following the trial. Most recently, the media mogul urged Judge Arun Subramanian to send him to FCI Fort Dix.
According to a letter obtained by TMZ, Diddy asked to be transferred to the low-security prison to serve his four-year sentence. His team claim the prison will be a good fit for him as it will allow him to “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”
The prison’s previous residents include Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice.
