LeBron James shocks fans with ‘The Second Decision’ as it turns out to be a Hennessey ad
LeBron James’ “The Second Decision” is an ad for Hennessy and not a retirement announcement.
The 40-year-old sparked retirement rumors when he shared a cryptic video on Instagram.
However, a day later, James released a follow-up to the cryptic video, which was revealed to be an ad for Hennessy.
The video is captioned, “The Decision has been made. Cheers to year 23,” with James’ official Instagram account tagged. This is followed by a couple of hashtags, which also confirm that this is indeed an ad for the alcohol brand.
The ad is in an interview format, where the interviewer asks him, “LeBron, fans want to know where you are taking your talents this year? What is your decision?” James replies thoughtfully, “In this fall, man, this is tough. In this fall, I will be taking my talents to Hennessy VSOP.” He then talks about the brand and its benefits in a rap style and concludes by saying, “I like my decision.”
Fans breathe a sigh of relief that the Los Angeles Lakers player is not retiring anytime soon and are shocked that this tense buildup over the past couple of days was for a brand collaboration. One fan exclaimed, “You put me through cardiac arrest to announce HENNESSY?????????” with multiple side-eye emoticons.
Another fan wrote, “This was worse then [than] a pregnancy scare,” accompanied by a crying emoticon. Another fan shared, “Bro u wild asl I was literally crying yesterday.”
Finally, a fan penned, “Why would you play like that,” accompanied by a crying emoticon. The title is a witty nod to the player’s 2010 ESPN special titled “The Decision”.
