Rosie O’Donnell has never been one to back down from an argument.
The comedian and longtime talk-show host is famous for speaking her mind regardless of the tensions. One of her most well-known verbal exchanges occurred in an episode of The View with fellow host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Rosie believes that people behind the scenes may have provoked the verbal jousting between the two.
Rosie O’Donnell reflects on her infamous fight with Elisabeth Hasselbeck

While she’s had her share of heated exchanges on live TV. There is one that loyal fans of The View won’t soon forget.
In a 2007 episode, Rosie called out Elisabeth for not defending her. It stemmed from when the media accused the Rosie O’Donnell Show alum of indirectly calling US troops terrorists. This came during America’s involvement in the Iraq War.
Speaking on the Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel show this week, Rosie believes producers of The View played a part in the now-infamous TV moment. “Our producer is not an on-the-fly kind of guy, he wasn’t mister like, ‘Let’s go to the split-screen.’ That was prepared,” said Rosie.
In the episode of The View, Elisabeth told Rosie, “You are an adult, and I am certainly not going to be the person for you to explain your thoughts.” That seemed to really damage their relationship. Rosie genuinely felt that she and Elisabeth were friends off-camera, but the fight on camera put a lot of that into question for her.
The two hosts had plenty more feuds on-air after that, before Rosie left the show in 2013 and Elisabeth following suit two years later. In August, the comedian predicted that The View would be cancelled because ABC wants obedience rather than people speaking their minds.
Earlier this year, Rosie played herself on an episode of the TV show Hacks.
