Nicole Kidman Talks About ‘Direction’ Amid Keith Urban Divorce

Nicole Kidman’s statement in her latest cover story for Vogue seems to hint that she was anticipating her split from Keith Urban. Journalist Wendell Steavenson looks back on the conversation she had with the star weeks before the news of her divorce broke out.

Nicole Kidman might have hinted at Keith Urban divorce in new interview

When asked how she was feeling in her 50s in her Vogue interview, Kidman gave a cryptic answer, saying, “How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?”

The statement has now gone viral on the internet, with fans speculating that it was a reference to the rumored divorce. Although she did not mention anything directly, fans believe that she might have hinted at the split way before the story surfaced. The Eyes Wide Shut actress reportedly filed for divorce on Tuesday, September 30, in Nashville, citing irreconcilable differences.

Furthermore, insider sources have previously confirmed to TMZ that the former couple had been living separately “since the beginning of summer.” So, although the divorce shocked the fans, it had been in the works for quite a while.

Meanwhile, Kidman continues to bask in the spotlight and has not shied away from making public appearances amid the reported divorce. In addition to the Vogue cover, Kidman debuted a glamorous hair transformation at the 2025 Paris Fashion Week.

The actress attended the Chanel show on Monday as their newest ambassador, where she turned heads with her stunning outfit and post-breakup bangs. Furthermore, fans are also excited to see Kidman reunite with Sandra Bullock on screen for their upcoming movie, Practical Magic 2.

Additionally, the Oscar-winning star will lead the upcoming thriller series Scarpetta as the protagonist Dr. Kay Scarpetta. Developed by Liz Sarnoff, the show is based on Patricia Cornwell’s popular book series of the same name.
