Kevin Costner once got into a heated altercation with his Yellowstone co-star Wes Bentley. The tense back and forth happened on set and was allegedly over lines – how showbiz. It clearly wasn’t a pretty sight – the pair’s co-star Kelly Reilly was said to have been left in tears.

Clearly Kevin Costner took the Western theme a bit too seriously while filming the show. A new profile on Kevin by The Hollywood Reporter revealed that he got a bit too “passionate” during a debate about the Yellowstone script.
While filming a scene with Wes and Kelly, who played his adult children in the series, things got a bit tense for all the wrong reasons. According to insiders, Kevin was pushing Wes to go off-script and ad lib his lines.
The younger actor refused, saying it was director Taylor Sheridan’s call. Kevin, who served as executive producer in the show, apparently didn’t take it well.
According to an eyewitness, “Kevin didn’t like that, and he lunged at him.”
The insider added that “no fists were thrown,” but the pair “were in each other’s faces, pushing and shoving and just getting hot until they had to be separated.”
The source also told THR that production on the soundstage in Utah was shut down for a while, with Kelly upset and crying over the exchange.
The incident was apparently the last straw for the crew, who sources say were fed up of Kevin’s “diva-like” behavior.
Another source told the publication: “The incident with Wes was the line in the sand. Everything was different after that. Everyone loved Wes, and so that really made Taylor upset. Kevin and Taylor butted heads from there on out. It got very awkward.”
Kevin’s character was ultimately killed of at the beginning of the final season. It’s not clear if his behavior had anything to do with the decision.
