Swift told Seacrest she wants to protect the memory. She stated, “I share so much of our relationship with the world that, like, the moment that that happened, it’s like, I’ll have it forever. And that will always be mine.”
The pop singer continued, “I got to figure out, like, ways to make sure that I do have things that are just between us. And thankfully, we do have a lot of those things.” She added, “And that moment in particular is one that’s always just going to be ours.” Asked if she recalled the details, she didn’t hesitate, saying, “Oh, I remember everything.”
The 35-year-old also revealed that Kelce used the podcast as a decoy. Swift said, “He kind of, like, used the podcast as a distraction and like a ruse for him to have that entire setup made in the backyard. He’s a clever guy. He’s tricksy.” The couple announced the news on Instagram two weeks after the engagement. Kelce had set up a custom “secret garden” in the backyard. Meanwhile, Swift remained unsuspecting while taping the “New Heights” podcast, and then Kelce led her outside for the surprise.
As for a wedding date, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce do not seem to be in a rush. Swift’s album rollout and Kelce’s NFL season come first, and the couple will potentially set a timeline when it fits.
