Jennifer Lopez was very excited about her new movie, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” in which she plays Aurora. She worked really hard on the project and promoted it extensively. Despite that, the film received a lukewarm response and didn’t do particularly well.
The movie initially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2025. It was later released in theaters on October 10, 2025, through Lionsgate Films, Roadside Attractions, and LD Entertainment.
The movie opened to $1 million, as opposed to its budget of $30 million. So, it’s no surprise that J.Lo feels “devastated” that the movie hasn’t performed well. According to Rob Shuter’s report, she is now “questioning everything.” An insider revealed, “She thought this was her Black Swan moment. She believed it would be her Oscar comeback.”
However, things didn’t go that way. Initially, when the movie was released at the Sundance Film Festival, it didn’t perform well and wasn’t well-liked by the audience. A Hollywood insider expressed that although “people love her as a performer,” they “are not paying to see her act anymore.”
For now, it seems the “On the Floor” singer is facing a lot of setbacks in her life. With her tours getting canceled, films not performing well, and a split from Ben Affleck, there is no denying that she is going through a rough phase.
A source added that she feels “exhausted” and “feels like she’s lost her audience.” However, her friends think otherwise. “Jennifer Lopez has rebuilt herself a dozen times. She’ll rise again — but this one really broke her heart,” claimed an insider who is allegedly close to J.Lo.
