Even Oscar nominees aren’t as recognizable as we may think, at least not for Gwyneth Paltrow.
The actress won an Academy Award for Shakespeare in Love, but didn’t know anything about the star in her upcoming movie, Marty Supreme.
Timothée Chalamet has been nominated for two Oscars previously for Call Me by Your Name and A Complete Unknown. He and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, are arguably among the most famous celebrity couples today. Until recently, though, neither were on Gwyneth’s radar.
Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t know who Timothée Chalamet was before working with him
Gwyneth has mingled and worked with her share of celebrities before, but Timothée Chalamet wasn’t one of them. Before working together on set, she was also not familiar with him. In an interview with British Vogue, the singer and actress discusses a conversation she had with Timothée about their personal lives. “Everyone makes fun of me because I don’t know anything. I was like, ‘Do you have a girlfriend?’ And he was like, ‘I do,’” according to Gwyneth. “I didn’t know [it was] Kylie Jenner,” Gwyneth hilariously admitted.
Kylie starred in the hit reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians for years and is among the most followed individuals on Instagram, with over 390 million followers.
Marty Supreme was the first movie Gwyneth has been a part of since voicing herself in the 2022 flick She Said. The actress, however, has remained busy introducing her new fashion label, GWYN, during New York Fashion Week last month.
Timothée and Gwyneth have a lot in common, with each previously earning Academy Award nominations, while both come from singing backgrounds.
His performance in Marty Supreme has critics raving that it’s one of Timothée’s best. The film premiered earlier this month at the New York Film Festival. It will be released in theatres across the US on Christmas Day.
