There was joy in the Bravoverse this past week when Family Karma stars Amrit Kapai and Nicholas Kouchoukos welcomed their baby girl.
The couple, who married in a four-day traditional Indian wedding celebration in 2022, welcomed Anya Iris Kapai-Kouchoukos via surrogate. Now that they’ve fulfilled their dream of having a family, bonding with their baby girl is the focus.
“The first 48 hours of Anya’s life were spent with the surrogate, her mother, Nicholas and I,” Amrit said. “The four of us spent many hours together in a hospital room with our sleeping beauty.”

“We had delicate interactions. We smiled, laughed and shed a few tears,” Amrit told People. “When it came time to part ways, we witnessed the most gentle and beautiful goodbye.”
“We are now a family of three,” the lawyer continued. “Well, four, including Theo [their beloved Golden Doodle, who was included in their pregnancy announcement]. It has been a wild ride, but one I desperately needed in this phase of my life … Nicholas and I are thrilled to embark on the journey of fatherhood.”
As for Nicholas, he’s mesmerized by their daughter, as she settles into the family. “It’s hard to put into words, but when I look at Anya Iris, my heart flutters like I was on a rollercoaster,” the new dad said. “Baby girl hasn’t stopped stretching out her whole body since she was in the womb. She’s constantly moving and squeaking. A bundle of joy!”
When #ksquared announced their impending parenthood in May, they were over the moon. “It was so surreal to hear the news we had been anticipating for so long,” Amrit shared. “Each of us has wanted to be a father as long as we both can remember. Knowing our dream is coming to life puts an ear-to-ear grin on our faces.”
Their little girl is the specific fulfillment of Amrit’s dream. When they began their surrogacy journey, he confessed, “I want to be a girl dad and buy pretty dresses for her and learn how to do her hair … All of that really fun stuff.”
“Becoming parents as a same-sex couple is deeply meaningful for us,” they said at the time. “We feel honored to be stepping into this new chapter and can’t wait to share our lives with our child. It means everything to be building our family.”
