One of The View co-hosts has praised Cheryl Hines for her appearance on the talk show after the Curb Your Enthusiasm actress had a heated debate with Sunny Hostin. On a Wednesday, October 15, episode of the Behind The Table podcast, which features behind-the-scenes interviews on the ABC show, panelist Sara Haines believed that Hines, 60, conducted herself well when it came to fielding tough questions concerning the credentials of her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as the Trump’s Health Secretary. Given that he is a controversial political figure, she “commended her for just showing up.”
Hines handled the heated interview “like a pro”
“I think [Hines] did a great job,” said Sara Haines. “I mean, she was coming to a table where her husband has been a hot topic for a long time.”
The View co-host applauded the actress’s “comedic sense” as a way for her to get through the interview where she knew that the panelists would question her about RFK Jr. before coming on the show. Hines defended her husband’s ability to be in his position, saying that he “has dedicated his career to suing big corporations because of toxins that have been affecting people’s health,” citing his part in the lawsuit against Monsanto for using Roundup.
Haines then echoed a sentiment made by fellow panelist Joy Behar who said after the interview that she wanted more Republicans and those with opposing views to appear on the show more frequently.
“We want people with different views at our table,” Haines explained. “Our job is not to tell people how to feel. It’s not to invite people to our table and slam dunk them verbally.”
Despite the intense exchange, a representative of Hines per Entertainment Weekly said that the actress “wasn’t annoyed at all” by the showdown and that had “a great, balanced conversation” with The View panelists.
