Brigitte Bardot has reportedly been hospitalized for weeks
This isn’t the first time Brigitte has had a health scare. According to French outlet Var-Matin, she has been in hospital for three weeks needing “surgical intervention” for her illness.
While she has not performed in anything for decades, she led a busy life long ago, acting in over 40 films, while releasing over 70 songs in a career spanning over two decades. In the 1980s, she created the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals.
In 2023, she needed medical attention due to breathing problems. Her husband Bernard d’Ormale said paramedics treated her with oxygen at the time, but she did not go to the hospital. While her condition at the moment is said to be “worrying,” she is expected to be released from the hospital in the coming days.
She may be more well-known to those who grew up in the 50s and 60s, but some younger generations seem to know of her. This past summer, Love Island host Ariana Madix was seen in a pink dress with a hairstyle said to be inspired by some of Birgitte Bardot’s former looks.
Brigitte’s influence in France has been evident for a long time. Former French President Charles de Gaulle once famously called her “the French export as important as Renault cars.” In 2011, she ranked second in a Los Angeles Times magazine poll for the 50 Most Beautiful Women in Film.
These days, she and her husband live a quiet life in the French Riviera.
