Barry Diller‘s sexual orientation doesn’t change anything, according to his wife.
The billionaire businessman wrote about his homosexual relationships in a 2025 memoir called Who Knew. There had been widespread speculation for decades that the Fox Broadcasting Company founder was gay.
Diane von Furstenberg has been married to him since 2001. The Belgian fashion designer recently weighed in on her husband’s revelation.
Diane von Furstenberg says of being married to gay Barry Diller: “What’s the difference?”

Barry’s official coming out of the closet is not a big deal to his longtime wife. The chairman of Expedia Group recently shared that he’s a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
In light of this news, Diane was asked by a reporter what it means to be married to a gay man. “What’s the difference?” she said in an interview with Variety. “It doesn’t change anything. I’m sorry — it’s a stupid question,” Diane went on to say. She added that she has married two gay men, but to her, they aren’t gay, so there’s no difference. Before Barry Diane was married to Prince Egon von Furstenberg, an openly bisexual man. The two were together from 1969 until separating in 1972.
The Belgian, well known for her wrap dress, began seeing Barry after her marriage to the former German banker ended. The couple dated on and off for years until 1981. A decade later, the pair reunited before eventually tying the knot in 2001.
In May of this year, Barry revealed to the world that he was gay. He says that he knows his relationship with Diane has caused confusion to many people and created plenty of speculation.
This past summer, the annual DVF Awards, supported by the Diller-von Furstenberg Awards, were handed out. Kim Kardashian took home the Leadership Award.
After Barry’s book came out, Diane admitted to encouraging him to write it, but didn’t say anything about supporting it.
Barry describes his sexuality as being fluid. The book Who Knew is a New York Times Bestseller.
