Prince Andrew Under Investigation: Leaked Emails Suggest He Pressured Officer To Dig up Dirt on Virginia Giuffre

Trigger Warning: This article includes mentions of sexual assault and trafficking.

Prince Andrew hasn’t been able to shake the scandal tied to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, the financier accused of trafficking underage girls. That connection has kept him under public scrutiny and taken a serious toll on his reputation.

After losing his military honors and official duties and giving up his royal titles, new allegations have now surfaced that could cause even more fallout.

Authorities are reportedly investigating claims that Andrew tried to have Virginia Giuffre’s criminal history investigated. Leaked emails appear to show that he asked a police officer to dig into her background more than a decade ago.

According to the Daily Mail, leaked emails reveal that in 2011, Andrew told Queen Elizabeth’s deputy press secretary that he had given a police protection officer Virginia’s U.S. Social Security number and date of birth. He allegedly asked the officer to dig into her criminal record, hoping to uncover something that could discredit her. The email reportedly went out just before a 2001 photo surfaced showing Andrew with his arm around a 17-year-old Virginia, while Epstein accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, stood beside them.

When the email exchange took place, Andrew was already facing heavy backlash for his connection to Epstein. Virginia, who allegedly died by suicide in April at age 41, had publicly accused him of sexual assault and claimed he took part in Epstein’s trafficking network. She said Andrew raped her when she was a minor. She filed a civil lawsuit in 2021 and settled it out of court the following year for a reported $12 million. Andrew denied all allegations, but Queen Elizabeth later stripped him of his royal roles as a result.

The leaked emails surfaced days after Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, were removed from their royal titles amid ongoing accusations linking him to Epstein.

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first,” Andrew said in a statement on Friday. He maintained his innocence and added that the decision followed a discussion with his brother, King Charles, and their “immediate and wider family.”
