Today Show host Savannah Guthrie admits that being forced to ask Khloe Kardashian one particulary question has been the biggest blunder of her career. On Monday, October 20, the 53-year-old anchor was asked by Bravo host Andy Cohen on the NBC show during a question-and-answer “Ask My Anything” segment on what she thought was her worst on-air blooper. After taking some time to think, Guthrie said that it was questioning the Kardashian about the rumors surrounding her father.
Guthrie admits her biggest blunder involves Khloé Kardashian
“I asked Khloé Kardashian, like ten seconds before we were going to break about the rumors that her father wasn’t her father,” Guthrie explained, referring to an interview she had with her in 2012.
“Oh, that was so bad,” Cohen replied.
“I was so embarrassed because I felt like all this pressure,” the anchor recalled. “I had just started and I felt like the producers wanted me to ask this dishy question but I didn’t want to.”
Due to her feeling uncomfortable about it, Guthrie waited ten seconds before the break until asking her, “And Khloe, like, uh what about this rumor that Robert Kardashian’s not really your father?” There has been speculation that Robert Kardashian Sr. might not have been Khloe’s biological father in part because she looks different than her brothers and sisters and because Kris had admitted to having an affair.
Fortunately, Khloe was “a class act” and wasn’t phased by the question. “Ah, nothing to it,” she said, before the show made the break. Guthrie believed that Khloe’s response “saved my butt.” She has since stayed at the Today Show for a decade, becoming one of the current main anchors on the show with Craig Melvin.
Guthrie reportedly makes around $8 million a year on the morning show. There have been rumors that former host Hoda Kotb wants to return to the Today show.
