Sean “Diddy” Combs may have only just been sentenced, but apparently he could be back on the streets very soon. Insiders say Donald Trump is considering commuting the disgraced musician’s sentence, despite his staffers warning against the move.
Donald Trump is reportedly considering commuting Diddy’s four-year sentence
Diddy was sentenced to four years in prison on October 3. Just weeks later, Donald Trump may set him free.
According to TMZ, a high-ranking White House official says the President is considering commuting the media mogul’s sentence.
Diddy was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
The source says that several of Trump’s staff are advising him against the move. But, as the source says, “Trump will do what he wants.” The insider claims that Diddy could be set free as “early as this week.”
The White House Communications Office has responded, saying the claims are untrue. But TMZ insists the story is accurate.
Diddy was sentenced to 50 months earlier this month. He was facing up to 20 years. He has also been ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and must serve five years of supervised release, with a number of conditions.
At his sentencing, Judge Arun Subramanian told him: “This is a serious sentence that reflects the gravity of your crimes and conduct. You abused the power and control with women you professed to love. You abused them physically, emotionally, and psychologically.”
He added: “You had the power and the resources to keep it going, and because you weren’t caught. You paid for and organized these acts, you were no John. You were responsible for that, even if your currency was sexual desires and not money.”
The rapper’s team has already asked for him to be transferred to FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. The prison is known to be low security, even being described as being “wide-open.”
