Taylor Swift Gushes About 90s Popstar

Taylor Swift recently caught attention gushing over a ’90s pop star. A couple of days ago, Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean posted a video on Instagram jamming to a track. It turned out to be a mashup of his boy band’s 1997 hit “Everybody” and Swift’s 2025 song, “Elizabeth Taylor.” As the reel took over the internet, the 35-year-old soloist noticed it and couldn’t hold back her excitement as she commented on AJ’s clip enthusiastically.

Taylor Swift and AJ McLean’s collaboration seemed to be a dream come true for all ’90s kids and Swifties. Recently, the Backstreet Boys member uploaded a video in which he was seen lip-syncing and jamming to a mashup. The track consisted of the newly engaged musician’s vocals over the boy band’s instrumental.

In the caption, AJ wrote, “Come on now you know one of us had to! @taylorswift!” Following that, the “Lover” hitmaker responded, “OH HI AJ OH MY GOD.” His mention and her enthusiastic comment have received a positive response from fans. While Swift’s remark received over 146K likes at the time of writing, the post garnered over 3.5 million views.

Moreover, viewers shared their excitement as one user said, “One step closer to this collab happening IRL.” Another stated, “MY FAVORITE BOYBAND AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE POP STARS?! we need this colab asap!”

Furthermore, the song “Elizabeth Taylor” is one of the tracks included in the Grammy winner’s new album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” During a recent Z100 radio interview, the global pop sensation explained the meaning behind the song. She said that she wanted to express her “emotions” and her “issues with fame” by “cosplaying the life” of the Hollywood legend, Elizabeth Taylor.

“She is always someone that I’ve looked up to as being this very glamorous, very beloved, but for some reason a polarizing figure — which, [I’ve] found myself in that place, too,” Swift added. Her “The Life of a Showgirl” album was released worldwide on October 3 with 12 songs.
