Imagine hosting a series like Ghost Adventures, and then finding out midfilming that your spouse had a secret plan to end your life. This stranger-than-fiction storyline actually happened to Aaron Goodwin, courtesy of his now ex-wife, Victoria Goodwin.

This real-life narrative only recently infiltrated the reality television landscape. In the episode that just aired, viewers saw Aaron receiving a disturbing call from the police. While Discovery+ edited this scene down, they still chose to leave in footage of this call that forever rocked his world.

Admittedly, Aaron didn’t watch this week’s episode of Ghost Adventures. Why would he willingly watch any reminders of this plot line? But we are not Aaron, so here are the details about this case, including the sentence that Victoria, recently received.

During a new episode of Ghost Adventures, cameras captured Aaron learning about Victoria’s little side hit project. While filming inside the abandoned Hollydale Mental Hospital in Downey, California, last March, his phone beeped. As Aaron stared down at it, his words failed. At first, “Hold on one second,” was all he could manage to squeak out.

“You alright, you ok?” his co-star, Jay Wasley, asked. “Bro, the police are at my house … I gotta go outside,” Aaron answered. Jay said, “I don’t know what’s going on.” Here, their producers chose to stop filming out of respect for Aaron and all that he was trying to process.

A narrator, however, did insert a voiceover into this scene. “At this point, we will not be showing any further footage. But it is at this moment that Aaron received a call from the police, that his wife had been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, by hiring a hitman to have Aaron killed.” And scene.

Reprtedly, Victoria was sleeping with “multiple men,” including a convicted killer named Grant Amato. Victoria started messaging Grant in October 2024, saying she wanted to end her marriage, so she needed her husband killed. Ever heard of a divorce, Victoria? Thankfully, their local police caught on, and Aaron is still alive.

As TMZ reported, Victoria offered Grant $11,515 for this hit. Then, she passed along information about where Aaron might be, so that his hitman could pull off this murder.

Sure enough, this murder-for-hire plot came to light after his Florida-based corrections officers confiscated his phone in prison. Within their messages, Victoria allegedly penned, “Am I a bad person? Because I chose to end his existence. Not divorce.”

During her arrest, Victoria denied wanting Aaron killed. She also pulled the classic Bravo route of amnesia, claiming that she did not remember sending any death-related messages. As for the money she had already sent Grant for his deposit, well, she had an excuse for that, too. She thought these funds were to help Aaron with his cell phone fees.

But no one bought her excuses. So, Victoria pled guilty. She received a sentence of 36 – 90 months in prison. If she serves only the minimum amount of time, Victoria will be eligible for release in June 2028.

In her statement, she apologized to Aaron, saying she is “so immensely sorry for the pain and anxiety I have caused you and the betrayal you undoubtedly and rightfully feel by my actions.” Enjoy jail, Victoria.

What’s next for Ghost Adventures, Aaron, and Victoria?

For Aaron, the choice was clear. One week after Victoria’s arrest, he filed for divorce. Last Tuesday, he released a statement ahead of this week’s episode of Ghost Adventures, which featured this incident. He is trying his best to move forward, so Aaron decided to skip this episode.

“This next episode of #ghostadventures is when I got the FaceTime call from the cops. They were in my house & told me what she did & she was arrested. I won’t be watching this episode cause I don’t want to relive that night again & what happened before the call. This lockdown is insane & disturbing, with what happened during our investigation,” he penned in his Instagram caption.

In a separate post, Aaron admitted that he was not doing well. So, he will not be speaking to the press just yet. “Honestly, I probably couldn’t make it through an interview without being in tears, and I’m just not ready yet,” he said.

Now, all Aaron wants is space, time, and for his “divorce to be over so I can move on with my life.” Meanwhile, Victoria is sitting in a jail cell.

Ghost Adventures streams on Discovery+ and Hulu.
