Prince Andrew Wanted for Questioning in US Over Jeffrey Epstein

The United States House Oversight Committee is hoping to question Prince Andrew to discuss his connection to Jeffrey Epstein. In her posthumous memoir, Nobody’s Girl, Jeffrey’s alleged victim, Virginia Giuffre, made shocking sexual abuse allegations about the royal.

Virginia, who died by suicide last April, was one of Jeffrey’s most vocal accusers. In August 2019, he died by suicide while awaiting trial in a New York City prison. Jeffrey was charged with sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors.

On the evening of Tuesday, October 21, Congressman Stephen Lynch, one of the committee’s senior members, appeared on the BBC program, Newsnight. Anchor Victoria Derbyshire asked Stephen if he would consider inviting the prince to speak to the committee. Stephen answered, “We would be extremely interested in hearing from Prince Andrew regarding his involvement in all of this, yes.”

Stephen said the House Oversight Committee has had the opportunity to “interview a half dozen” of Epstein’s survivors, adding, “each one of them really had a bond with Virginia Giuffre.” The committee is seeking information on what Prince Andrew knew about Jeffrey’s pedophile trafficking operation.

The committeeman added, “I think these memoirs only strengthen that bond. And I think for those on our committee – both Democratic and Republican – that have seen the pain and anguish that has been experienced by these women, it will only increase our interest in speaking to everyone who was involved here.”

Victoria asked Stephen directly, “Will you issue that invitation, then?” And he replied, “We will. I’m sure.”

Because he is not an American citizen, Prince Andrew cannot be subpoenaed to attend the hearing.

Stephen then acknowledged the political aspect of the situation, saying that President Trump – who recently visited the UK – seems to want to “prevent the Epstein files” from being publicly released. He noted, “He’s trying to keep those private.”

Prince Andrew’s name appeared on the latest documents related to Epstein’s estate, which were published on Friday, October 17. This was the day he gave up his Duke of York title and honors, saying, “The continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”
