Tyla Scammed Neighbors To Get Money for School

Tyla recently revealed how she used to scam neighbors for money. In a recent magazine interview, the singer shared anecdotes from her childhood in South Africa. She mentioned how her old days helped her to prepare for life filled with appreciations and criticisms. For those unversed, the 23-year-old musician is known for her fusion style, mixing pop and amapiano in her music. She has also made people familiar with other South African genres, such as Bacardi and Gqom.

Tyla scammed people to get her money for school back in South Africa

Tyla recently confessed to scamming people to get money for school. In a candid conversation with Glamour magazine, the “Queen of Popiano” made interesting revelations about her childhood in her home country. She said that she has experienced “thousand lives” as she has been brought up, playing in the “grass” and “streets.”

Tyla shared a couple of anecdotes that she used to do with her cousins. They have reportedly sold their clothes on the road and bought sweets with the money. “We would scam my neighbors into giving us money so we can have money for school. Me and my cousins would always get up to mischief,” she added.

The “Water” hitmaker referred to her upbringing as her parents being “protective” rather than “sheltered.” Reflecting on her past experiences, Tyla said, “I feel like it prepared me also, because I can take criticism and appreciate everything that I’m given.” She explained that she has become who she is today, not just because of the “fame and the screaming fans.” According to her, it was also due to those who were behind her and supported her.

Furthermore, the songwriter revealed that she had loved dancing since she could walk. She said to had learned the art, including belly dance, from her aunt. The musician claimed that she never thought of herself as the “best dancer.” However, her performance would be a version of her.
