Not everyone was happy to see King Charles during his visit to Lichfield Cathedral on October 27. The monarch’s pre-publicized visit ensured he was greeted by hundreds of well-wishers. However, one protestor in the crowd confronted him about his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew.
King Charles was heckled over Prince Andrew’s links to Jeffrey Epstein
A bystander filmed the protestor yelling his questions at King Charles while the monarch greeted the crowds surrounding the cathedral. Many were waving flags and chanting “God Save the King!”
However, one man was shouting questions. He said, “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein? Have you asked the police to cover up for Andrew? Should MPs be allowed to debate the royals in the House of Commons?”
He kept repeating the questions as the king approached his section of the crowd. King Charles didn’t answer him. It’s possible that he didn’t hear the questions over the noise.
The questions come on the heels of the king taking a harsher stance against Andrew and his many scandals. His involvement with Jeffrey Epstein is the main issue. But there’s also the court case he settled with Virginia Giuffre, and even his potential involvement with a Chinese spy. The US is even hoping to question the prince about the Epstein case.
With all the new allegations emerging, the king’s brother recently relinquished his Duke of York title and his remaining royal honors. Pressure has been mounting on King Charles to take further action, including removing him from Royal Lodge where he was previously meant to remain.
The protestor’s questions are legitimate. However, not everyone in the crowd saw it that way. As they were yelling at the King, a woman towards the front of the crowd turned around and told them to “Shut up!”
Many are still divided about how the king should be handling the royal scandal. While he has taken some actions, there are those, including Prince William, who believe that harsher actions are still needed.
