Prince William has reportedly been considering the ban on certain “quirky customs” and bringing changes to royal life. According to RadarOnline, the future monarch was in a conversation with actor Eugene Levy when he said, “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda.” The Prince of Wales continued, “Change for good, and I embrace that.” He further said, “I don’t fear it – that’s the bit that excites me, the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical, but changes that I think need to happen.”
Separately, a source told the news outlet that William’s “vision is a monarchy fit for the modern age – less pomp, fewer outdated titles, and a stronger emphasis on purpose.” Commending the prince’s “pragmatic” vision for the future, they explained, “He knows the monarchy can only endure if it evolves and stays meaningful to people’s lives.”
According to insiders, William’s list of things he wants to ban in the future includes complex costumes and regalia that have been representing the royal ceremonies for years. He reportedly finds them “ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, another source claimed that the heir to the throne “can’t stand the more theatrical side of royal tradition.” This includes “the plumes, the velvet, the heavy robes,” which William finds “totally outdated and a bit camp.” The insider further said, “He’ll keep the dignity of the role, but he wants to strip away the excess and make it feel less like costume drama.”
